MICROSCOPY

The PVMA has several microscopes which we use for scheduled microscopy classes and sessions. Three were donated to us from biologists and club members Sue Lancelle and Dale Callahan. We also have our own club high quality microscope and have access to three of Dianna’s instruments. Consequently, we are able to conduct microscopy classes in her office/lab for up to ten members at a time. Previous classes have been conducted by Dr. Roz Lowen, Sue Lancelle and Jessica Benson Evans.

To facilitate your interest in using the microscope to study fungi, we include here articles written by newsletter editor Sue Lancelle and our club president Jessica Benson Evans. Both have found examining fungi and their remarkably diverse spore shapes and sizes to be an exciting way to expand their knowledge of the characteristics of fungi. We trust you will enjoy reading them and learning from them.
