Russula rugulosa  Peck (1 Photo and Description)

Russula rugulosa 0816

Rose red cap, completely bumpy-wrinkled and fading with age. Peels half-way to center. White stipe, gills broad, creamy-white with a few forking. Found with conifers. Taste mild to somewhat peppery.  Often confused with R. emetica, which grows in sphagnum moss.
