Russula pseudolepida has an apple red to pink-red, often yellow-splotched slightly velvety dry cap with a pellicle that barely peels, if at all. Off-white to cream gills are crowded and exhibit some forking. Spores are cream to pale yellow. Stem is relatively short, white, but with red at the base. Taste is mild.
