Inocybe calamistrata can be found growing on the ground in mixed and coniferous forests. has a campanulate to conical tan to brownish cap covered in scales. The stipe is paler at the apex, covered in recurrved scales and turns blue-green at the base. Varying length gills are whitish-cream and turn reddish-brown as the spores mature. Many inocybes have been found to contain toxins, so it is not recommended that any be eaten.
