The Amicorticiaciaceae K.H. Larsson; P.B. Matheny; D.S. Hibbitt 2010 family
has been determined to be one of the older clades. Plicaturopsis crispsa common in the northeast, is a more elaborate form of the earlier resupinate fungi. The cap and stem mushrooms evolved from the more resupinate fungi.
