LACTARIUS cinereus has a sticky pale cream-brown cap with a depressed darker center and light olive-gray-brown incurved margin. Gills are white to cream colored. Latex white, but scanty and mild to somewhat acrid. Spore print is cream. Stipe is concolorous with cap only paler, and base is slightly clavate. Found growing in association with beech.
