Small or medium sized white-gray convex, smooth cap becoming flat to funnel-shaped, darker brownish-yellow with sticky and wrinkled depressed center and a scalloped margin. Gills are creamy, broad,  decurrent and distant. Stem is color of cap or paler and becomes hollow. White latex is unchanging, but stains and dries salmon-pink gills. Spore print is cream-buff. Under hardwoods. Taste is usually acrid.
