CORTINARIUS evernius has a purple-reddish-brown conical cap which retains an umbo while expanding. White velar remnants on pale blue stem. Purple gills become rust brown. Appears in autumn.
Mycorrhizal with conifers. Presumed inedible and potentially toxic. This is in the Cortinariceae family of the Agaricales order.
