White rotter. saprobic on dead wood, and parasitic on tree wounds. “Giant Panus” White to cream finely velvety pleurotoid cap with an inrolled margin. It eventually yellows. Decurrent, white gills yellow with age. Eccentric to central hairy stem. Edible when young but tough. Can be confused with Pleurotis dryinus, which has a veil and leaves remnants on the cap margin and the stem) and with Hypsizigus ulmarius, which lacks decurrent gills.
