AMYLOCORTICIALES order

The Amylocorticiales order has been determined to be one of the oldest clades of the Basidiomycota. It contains primarily crust fungi that may or may not have small caps. They are classified as monomitic because they are comprised of only generative hyphae. All species within the order are saprotrophic. Some are white rotter while others are brown rotters. Plicaturopsis crispa is slightly more elaborate version of earlier more resupinate ancestors. Cap and stem fungi evolved from these more basal fungi.
