Terrestrial, mycorrhizal with conifers. Roundish brown to grayish cap with an incurved and eventually a wavy margin. Pores are minute  and decurrent. Unlike true boletes, the pores cannot be separated from the flesh beneath the cap. Grows on the ground under hardwoods and conifers, particularly under pines, such as Scott’s Pine, in the autumn. Edible.
