Dry, somewhat scaly cap with inrolled margin. Fleah is yellow. Yellow attached gillsbecome rust-brown as spores mature. Found on wood of decaying conifers. Taste is bitter. Gymnopilus sapinieus grows on decaying conifer wood. It is in the Hymenogastraceae family of the Agaricales order.
