Amanita citrina (now Amanita mappa)


Amanita mappa (Batsch) Fr.

The "Citron Amanita”.  Cap is shiney and domed becoming flat, lemon yellow with white to ochre plaques. Gills are slightly adnate to free, white and crowded. Stipe whitish becoming hollow, with a fragile striated ring, large marginate bulb, covered wth cup-like fragments of volva. Smells of raw potato or radishes. Late summer, autumn fruiting.
