The yellow-stemmed Mycena grows from conifer wood (often buried). The conical to bell-shaped striate cap is brownish-gray. Gills are white and subdistant. The smooth bright yellow stem is slippery. This saprotrophic mushroom has white spores and is in the Mycenaceae family of the Agaricales.
