Unlike insects and flowers, the two main subjects of closeup and macro photography, we don’t have to worry about the mushroom getting up and flying away, or bobbing erratically in the slightest breeze.
Nevertheless, mushrooms present their own challenges for the photographer because:
1. They are rarely in convenient places that don’t require you to get down on your hands and knees (we need an aerobic DVD to keep in shape for this)
2. They are usually covered with leaves or dirt and are surrounded by distracting sticks and weeds.
