It is nearly impossible to tell Lentinus levis apart from Pleurotus dryinus. My clue here is my memory that it was identified as  Pleurotus levis (now Lentinus levis) when collected and by the fact that there is a KOH reaction on the stipe. Pleurotus dryinus wouldn’t exhibit any reaction.
