LACTARIUS deterrimus looks like the European Lactarius deliciosus, but TURNS GREENER overall. Stipe has white ring-like mark at apex. There are NO CIRCULAR PITS on stem. Flesh turns darker red on exposure. It can be found under spruce in mountainous regions. Taste is PEPPERY, and not comparable to the European Lactarius deliciosus.
