CAMERA PREPARATION

a.  Make sure your camera is set to record images with continuous numbers (and does not reset to 1 every time you put in a card).

b.  Use the Raw setting if available on your camera; Raw setting retainsJPG next choice.  Make sure the quality setting on highest available (Fine) and the image size is LARGE, so you can crop the photo if necessary and still have enough pixels for a good print.

c.  Set PS camera to Macro mode

d.  Set up your DSLR camera to use Aperture Priority and use the smallest aperture your camera will allow (large number to increase Dof F).   If in completely manual mode, adjust your aperture first, then lengthen the shutter speed if necessary

e.  Adjust the ISO to the lighting conditions. Set your ISO to between 50 and 200 maximum, depending on light available (A lower number is sharpest and clearest).

f.  Place your camera on a tripod

If it is necessary to use a flash, cover it with a diffuser. Or use fast fill flash and/or exposure compensation to prevent blowout. Be prepared to use side lighting, if possible, to bring out texture in mushrooms like pholiotas, amanitas, etc.
