Lighting: Photography is all about balancing the various methods of controlling light to get the photo you want. Some mushrooms grow out in the open in fields or the lawn.  But most mushroom photography takes place within dark woods.  In either environment, you are better off photographing mushrooms in shade than in bright or dappled sunlight.
