Drab often large lilac-brown to lilac-tan smooth, sticky to dry cap with depressed disc, and inrolled margin becoming pinkish-tan in the center. It has close to subdistant broad cream subdecurrent gills that age pinkish tan toward the margin. Off-white latex discolors flesh tan to brownish. Spore print is pinkish-buff. Pale stem develops brown spots with handling. Slightly acrid taste. Edibility unknown. Mycorrhizal with hardwoods, especially oak. Common in oak-hickory woods summer and autumn. This is in the Russulacae family of the Russulales order.
