Bothia castanella
This bolete has been inseveral different genera in the past. Currently it is the only bolete in the genus Bothia, which is named after mycologist Ernst Both. Bothia castanella has a reddish-brown to chocolate-brown to yellowish-brown cap and yellow-cinnamon pores that are irregular and elongate in shape as well as decurrent. The stipe is slightly off-center. At the apex it appears to be reticulate with paler browinsh lines stretching downward toward the base. It can be found growing under oak, beech and other broadleaf trees as well as under conifer with white pine and hemlock in mixed woods. It is in the Boletaceae family of the Boletales order.
