Fuscoporia ferruginosa (Phellinus ferruginosus) (Pers.) G. Cunn 1948
This is a fairly common crust fungus. ‘ferrea' refers to the color of iron, a rust-red-brown. ‘Fusca' in Latin means dark brown, the color of the pore surface. The spores are white. Fuscoporia ferruginosa is a white rotter on dead hardwoods. It is in the Hymenochaetaceae family of the Hymenochaetales order.
