Hygrophorus erubescens

Blotchy viscid cap and gills, which are somewhat decurrent with interspersed shorter ones and dry stipe. Grows under conifers. Edible.  It is similar to the Hygrophorus russula, which however, grows with broadleaf trees, such as oaks, rather than conifers. Another lookalike is the conifer-loving Hygrophorus purpurescens, which has a partil veil. This is in the Hygrophoraceae family of the Agaricales order.
