More interesting than white species of crepidotus, is Crepidotus calolepis with its scaly cap covered in brown fibrils, and its crowded white to off-white gills, which brown with maturity. It is often mis-identified as Crepidotis mollis (Schaeff.) Staaude 1857, which has a mostly smooth cap. Spore print is brown. It is a wood decay fungus in the Crepidotaceae family of the Agaricales order.
