Clitocybula abundans (Peck) Singer 1962

This clustered saprotrophic species grows from dead wood of broadleaved trees, particularly birch, but can also be found growing from dead conifers. Cap center is often brownish and can develop a slight depression. The margin has a tendency to split. Attached gills are white, as is the spore print. Once in the Tricholomataceae family, it has been moved to the Marasmiaceae family.
