Leccinum vulpinum (Leccinum aurantiacum)
has an orange—brown cap with overhanging marginal flaps and brown scabers that blacken with age. The base slowly becomes blue-green on cutting and with handling. Unlike the European Leccinum aurantiacum, which grows with hardwoods, Leccinum vulpinum is associated with conifers. It is in the Boletaceae family of the Boletales order.
