Gyroporus purpurinus  

Gyroporus purpurinus Singer ex Davoodian & Halling 2013

This bolete has a slightly velvety purple-red to pinkish cap cuticle. The pores are white, but become yellowish as the spores marure and begin to drop. The stem becomes hollow with age. It resembles Gyroporus casteneus,except for the reddish cap color and stem. It is mycorrhizal with oaks and other hardwoods. It is in the Gyroporaceae family of the Boletales order.
