Boletus variipes Peck

Boletus variipes has a tan to grayish-tan convex cap. Its pores are white and stuffed with mycelium in youth becoming yellow then olivaceous with maturity. The stipe can be somewhat bulbous toward the base. The stem bears obvious white reticulation or netting. This base is often somewhat brownish. It is mycorrhizal with oaks. This bolete is in the Boletus edulis complex. 

It is in the Boletaceae family of the Boletales order.
