Like Mycena haematopus and Mycena sanguineolenta, it  is a ‘bleeder', but it exudes a yellow rather than red or red-purple liquid. Gills are yellowish and edges are reddish. Saprotophic on dead wood. It is in the Mycenaceae family of the Agaricales.
