Amanita aestivalis Singer
looks a lot like Amanita brunnescens. Both feature a bulbous vertically cleft foot often with an abruptly raised rim, both develop reddish brown spotting and staining (although the staining is slower with Amanita aestivalis).. Amanita aestivalis has a white cap, sometimes slightly yellow or light tan over the center. The margin is either non-striate or faintly so in age. The moderately broad close white gills are free and slightly fimbriate along the edge. The partial veil is white, persistent and located high up on the stem. It can be found growing in deciduous and mixed forests.
