Pluteus aurantiorugosus  (Trog) Saccardo

Pluteus aurantiorugosus is a decomposer of dead hardwoods. At first it is a brilliant red-orange fading to orange-yellow with age. Often it has a central knob and appears to be somewhat bumpy. The gills turn pinkish as the spores mature. Sometimes the outer edge of the gills near the  cap margin becomes yellowish. It is in the Plutaceae family of the Agaricales order.
