Amanita brunnescens var. pallida , the "Cleft-foot Amanita” has a whitish pileus with white patches from its universal veil; collapsing ring on stalk; basal bulb with splits; bruises reddish-brown. It has a white spore print. It is found in dry deciduous and coniferous woods near oak.
